The ITALIAN SCULPTOR ANDREA ROGGI AND BEVERLY HILLS JEWELER MARTIN KATZ COLLABORATE TO UNVEIL AN ENERGY OF LIFE ART INSTALLATION IN FLORENCE  

The Energy of Life sculpture was exhibited inside the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio, Florence, from November 3-6, 2023. The exhibition features a bronze sculpture created by Andrea Roggi and a jeweled sphere designed by Martin Katz to represent the energy source in an original work never shown before in Europe.  

  The exhibition represents a meeting of two masters; a Hollywood jeweler from California and a sculptor from Tuscany who met and shared a similar philosophy and idea to collaborate to create the Energy of Life sculpture. Two artists - one work.  A new form of art linked to humanity and a shared mission encapsulated in a work of art that will be unveiled for the first time in Florence during the 2023 Festival dell’Italia Gentile from the Italian expression of the International Kindness Movement born from the bestselling book Biology of Kindness by Daniel Lumera and Immaculata De Vivo.  The exhibition was organized with the support of the Municipality of Florence and of the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture Alessia Bettini.

Artfully designed in relief to represent Mother Earth, the sphere is the embodiment of the Energy source for the Tree of Life sculpture.  Made in 18K white gold, the jeweled sphere was handcrafted in the workshop Atelier of Martin Katz and features more than 2000 gemstones with over 8000 setting prongs holding shades of blue sapphires, paraiba tourmalines and Tsavorite garnets and white diamonds.   

ENERGIA DELLA VITA

At the heart of the majestic Tree of Life, a small sphere is unveiled - the Energy of Life - capturing the attention of every passerby. This masterpiece, born from the collaboration between the renowned sculptor Andrea Roggi and the internationally acclaimed jewelry designer Martin Katz, stands as an extraordinary testament to their exceptional mastery in encapsulating the very essence of life through the sensory expression of bronze, combined with the preciousness of goldsmithing.
The meeting of these two artists – coming from profoundly different and geographically distant artistic backgrounds – has provoked the urgent need to unite their creative minds in order to breathe life into a work of extraordinary beauty that echoes a powerful social message.
The sphere cradles an unstoppable life force within itself, forging a profound connection among all forms of life. Its surface, meticulously crafted in every detail, casts light, creating a visual spectacle of shadows and reflections. The Energy of Life challenges our traditional concept of reality, prompting us to explore the perception and awareness of a new world, a world connected by empathy and care for others. It reminds us that not everything that is precious is visible to our eyes, which is why we must rediscover the sensitivity to recognise its presence in our daily lives.
The natural element of the tree harmoniously blends with the abstract shape of the sphere: a symphony of the senses where every being experiences an emotional flow of unity.
